About: Protesting Conduct
Code of Conduct
Silent Vigilance
While in uniform, Handmaids are expected to remain silent. We let our presence and our signs speak for us. Silence is a powerful tool of dissent that forces onlookers and lawmakers to confront the visual warning we represent.
Strict Non-Violence
We are a non-violent movement. We do not engage in physical or verbal aggression, even when provoked. Our power lies in our "truth force" and our disciplined, calm center.
Dignity in Stance
When we march or stand in formation, we do so with discipline and deliberate focus. Maintain a composed, "non-fuckwithable" attitude at all times—non-violently, of course.
Respect for Public Space
We are here to protest, not to deface. Do not damage or mark public or private property. We pack in and pack out all trash, leaving the protest site as clean as we found it.
Interaction: Respond with Silence
If approached by passersby or counter-protesters, do not engage in arguments or yelling. Maintain your silence and focus on the mission.
Interaction: Refer to the Signal Corps
If members of the press ask for a statement, politely direct them to your designated Signal Corps (Media Liaison) or provide a group-approved fact sheet.
Anonymity & Privacy
Respect the anonymity of all participants. Do not take or share photos of fellow Handmaids without their explicit consent, as the cloak and bonnet are intended to protect our identities while we serve the collective.
Compliance with Law
We operate within the law to ensure the longevity of our movement. Cooperate with law enforcement instructions as long as they do not jeopardize your safety or rights.
Care for Each Other
Look out for the well-being of your fellow Handmaids. Share water, monitor for signs of heat exhaustion or distress, and support those who may be new to the front lines.
